Whittier families often start this search after a fall, a missed medication, or a night of wandering. The question is usually the same: does our parent need help with daily life, or do they need a locked, structured memory care setting?
La Posada Assisted Living & Memory Care is in Whittier, not downtown Los Angeles. The community is at 8120 Painter Ave, Whittier, CA 90602. The building phone is (562) 945-2651. California RCFE license 198603504. Licensed capacity 114.
Assisted living
Assisted living is for a person who still knows the day and can take part in meals and activities, but needs a reliable hand with bathing, dressing, medication reminders, or meals. They keep a private space. Staff are on site around the clock.
Memory care
Memory care is for Alzheimer's and other dementias when home is no longer safe. That can mean wandering, missed meals, sundowning, or a caregiver who cannot leave the house. The setting is smaller and more structured. Routines stay familiar on purpose.
La Posada offers both. We do not offer independent living.
Respite
Short stays are available when a family caregiver needs a break or a hospital discharge needs a safe place for a few days. Call for the current respite rate.
How to choose
Tour both neighborhoods of the building if you can. Ask how they handle a 2 a.m. wake-up, how they train staff on dementia, and how they call the family after a fall. Bring the medication list and walk the courtyard.
